Coach Kenny has implemented a fabulous new program here at SODO CrossFit. "Member Assessments". His reasoning is to help our members achieve their fitness goals and tailor their training to their specific goals. But, we failed to mention the most important reason for getting an assessment... Injury Prevention.
Our modern life creates imbalances in our health and fitness. We are too tight in some areas, too loose in other areas, too strong in some, and too weak in others. We eat too much of one thing and not enough of another. Our modern lives don't allow us to be able to be fully functional, active, and healthy all the time, and therefore does not allow us to become well-balanced in our health and fitness. And it is these imbalances that result in disease and/or injury. Whether you are a couch potato, an elite level athlete, or somewhere in between, being imbalanced can still result in injury.
Getting in better shape is a great idea, in just about whatever way you choose to do so. However, if you begin a course of getting better, faster, and/or stronger and you are imbalanced, you may be getting better, faster, and/or stronger while continuing to remain imbalanced. This is why there are people who do things like CrossFit regularly and still get injured. They did not work on their specific imbalances. They may be extremely fit and/or healthy, but are still imbalanced and thus get injured.
CrossFit is not meant to be specific to any one individual and/or endeavor. The goal is to become an all-around better version of yourself. Getting an Assessment can identify these imbalances, and give you the HomeWork/Tools to fix them, and avoid being an all-around better -but still imbalanced- version of yourself.
The specificity of the HomeWork/Tools from the Assessment can help create a more balanced all-around version of yourself.
Email Coach Kenny (kenny@sodocrossfit.com) and get signed up for an Assessment to fix your fitness imbalances right away and avoid injury before summer!
